Check out Home Fur Good in Phoenix, our chosen shelter for this year’s donation!

For this year’s Christmas drive, we selected Home Fur Good in Phoenix. This shelter is a small, big-hearted operation dependent on volunteers and donations, so we are thankful to everyone who helped chip in and allow us to hand them a $5,000 check this Christmas!

It’s much easier for shelters like Home Fur Good to get donations for emergency situations like surgeries for wounded animals, but they find it much more difficult to get help on the less glorious parts of the operation, like paying the electricity bill! So, donations like these, and anything else you can give, are crucial to helping places like this function and, as a result, helping the animals there get great care and eventually move to a lasting, loving home.

$3,000 raised for AZ Small Dog Rescue

Thank you to everyone who supported our 2022 Christmas donation drive! We raised $3,000 from your contributions. This year we chose the Arizona Small Dog Rescue shelter in Phoenix as the recipient of the money we’ve raised with your help. AZ Small Dog Rescue is a great shelter with an awesome team of staff and volunteers. When we dropped by to deliver the donation yesterday, the place was buzzing with activity. For a small location, this shelter houses a lot of dogs and does a lot of great work! We are proud to help them out this holiday season and we know Stephanie would be happy to see what this money will do for the adorable little guys at AZ Small Dog Rescue!

Christmas donation drive for a local shelter

Stephanie loved Christmas and each year she would ask family to donate to a local animal shelter instead of giving her gifts. Now, each Christmas season, we collect donations to give to a local shelter in her honor and we hope you will help us!

Last year, we raised $10,000 for the Friends for Life shelter in Gilbert and we’d love to top that donation this year. Donations are tax deductible since we are now a 501c(3) non profit. See the “DONATE” page for details on how to help. We will announce soon which local shelter we will direct these donations toward!

Encouraging animal-friendly diets

Recently, we donated 20 gift bags to Friends for Life Animal Shelter which we hope will encourage more people to adopt animal-friendly diets. The gift bags will be given to the next 20 people that adopt an animal from Friends for Life. Included in the bags are vegan/vegetarian cookbooks, gift cards to the wonderful Phoenix-area vegan restaurant Green, and some Steph SAVES goodies. Remember, loving animals should influence our decisions about what goes on our plates! Maybe you can’t go vegan or vegetarian, but we can all make dietary decisions that consider the treatment of animals that goes into that food. Hopefully, these gift bag donations will help some people make that change!

Shirts & wristbands are now available!

Both shirts and wristbands are free with a recommended donation of $20 for shirts and $2 for wristbands. All profits go toward animal welfare causes! Email us if you would like one!

Stephanie’s Celebration of Life event

Stephanie would not allow us to be too serious, so this will be a casual attire event. We will share stories and jokes and memories of her, eat some of her favorite foods, listen to her favorite music, and honor the life that she lived. If you are unable to attend, Stephanie’s family would love if you could visit her memorial website and leave a comment of your own:

Anyone wanting to help the family at this time is encouraged instead to donate to Steph S.A.V.E.S., the animal welfare organization that we’ve started in honor of her. For more information on the organization, please visit the About Us page.

Our Mission

We are an animal welfare and advocacy organization started in honor of our sister Stephanie who dedicated herself to animals like they were family. We seek to honor her by working for animals in the greater Phoenix area and advocating for animals everywhere. We want to contribute to the reduction in animal violence, from neglect and homelessness to the practices of the food industry, and to encourage people to reject speciesism, the poisonous belief that humans are superior to animals in a way that justifies this mistreatment.

Steph S.A.V.E.S. coordinates fundraisers, facilitates adoptions, runs food drives, and rounds up volunteer teams to assist local animal shelters in their operations. We also advocate for animal rights’ causes, particularly in relation to the zoo and food industries. In short, we seek a better world for animals, like Stephanie did, and we believe such a world would be better for humans as well.

We accept donations, 100% of which go toward animal welfare. See the Donate page for details.
